Our Girls Hockey Night with the New York Sirens was an unforgettable evening filled with education, connection, and world-class women’s hockey.
Learning Beyond the Ice: Pregame Workshops
We kicked off the evening with a series of pregame workshops in nutrition, mental skills, injury prevention, and the college hockey recruiting process. These sessions were led by professionals who work closely with athletes at all levels of the game.
Morgan Martin shared insights on injury prevention, recovery, and the importance of taking care of your body throughout a demanding season.
Mental skills coach Danielle McDonough spoke about building confidence, staying mentally resilient, and developing habits that support performance under pressure.
Certified sports nutritionist Stefanie Rock guided athletes through the fundamentals of fueling for performance, emphasizing how proper nutrition can support energy, recovery, and long-term athletic development.
We also heard from recruiting advisor Taylor Borrelli, who provided valuable insight into the college hockey recruiting process, helping players better understand timelines, expectations, and the steps they can take now to prepare for opportunities at the next level.
Together, these sessions gave our athletes a broader look at what it takes to pursue hockey beyond youth and high school levels, highlighting the many resources and support systems available to them along the way.
Experiencing the PWHL Up Close
After the workshops, we headed into the arena to watch the New York Sirens take on the Montréal Victoire in an exciting Professional Women's Hockey League matchup - both teams' first game back from the Olympics. For many of the girls attending, seeing professional women’s hockey live was a powerful experience. Watching athletes compete at the highest level reinforces what’s possible through dedication, hard work, and passion for the game.
Connecting with the Pros
The night continued after the final buzzer with a post-game Q&A session and meet-and-greet with Sirens players Taylor Girard and Kayla Vespa.
They spoke about their journeys through hockey, the challenges they faced along the way, and what helped them reach the professional level. Our athletes had the opportunity to ask questions, hear their advice firsthand, and connect with role models who were once in their same position.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Moments like these are what make events like Girls Hockey Night so meaningful. Bringing young players together with professional athletes helps them see the pathway ahead and reminds them that their goals are achievable.
We’re grateful to everyone who joined us for such a special evening, and we’re excited to continue creating opportunities that inspire and support the next generation of girls in hockey.
