ree

At the Girls & Women’s Hockey Academy (GWHA), we’re proud to support athletes, families, and coaches with expert recruiting guidance that helps players navigate one of the most important phases of their hockey journey. This month, we’re thrilled to spotlight our dedicated advisor, Taylor Borrelli, whose experience, commitment, and athlete-centered approach have been game-changing for many players.

About Taylor Borrelli

Taylor has a rich background in girls’ hockey leadership and recruiting support. She served as the Regional Girls Hockey Director and Hockey Director for York Devils Girls for two years, where she also coached the U19 girls’ team. During her tenure, she helped guide multiple athletes to placements at Tier 1 programs, NCAA schools, and ACHA teams, prioritizing opportunities that aligned with both athletic and academic goals. Taylor’s journey in the sport includes playing NCAA Division III hockey at Lebanon Valley College, giving her firsthand insight into the collegiate student-athlete experience.

Recruiting Simplified

Recruiting today involves more than just sending emails—it’s about strategy, timing, communication, and relationships. Taylor helps players:

  • Identify schools and programs that fit their skill level, academic profile, and personal preferences

  • Connect with coaches and navigate communication timelines

  • Keep track of important deadlines and action items

  • Prepare competitive recruiting materials and outreach approaches

  • Stay organized, confident, and focused on long-term success

Holistic Athlete Development

The recruiting process isn’t just about placing players—it’s about preparing them to thrive once they get there. Through GWHA’s advising program, players receive discounts to events, workshops, and resources that cover areas such as mental performance, nutrition, injury prevention, and more. This holistic approach helps athletes grow on and off the ice, supporting their performance, well-being, and confidence.

Consistent Communication

Good communication is key, so we make it a priority. Players have regular check-ins with their advisors (typically bi-weekly) to stay on track, troubleshoot questions, and make adjustments to their recruiting plan as needed. Advisors also respond quickly to athlete inquiries, helping families stay engaged and informed throughout the process.

“My daughter wanted to develop and get better. She wanted to be challenged and she wanted to succeed and get to the next level. Because of the support and the guidance Taylor gave my daughter, she was able to accomplish her goal and now she is playing NCAA women's ice hockey for three time national champion Elmira College."

What This Means for Players and Families

Working with Taylor means gaining more than a service—you gain a guide who understands the nuances of the recruiting process and is committed to your success both in hockey and life. Whether you’re just beginning to explore opportunities or you’re deep in conversations with coaches, Taylor and the GWHA team are here to provide clarity, confidence, and direction every step of the way.
