Whether you’re shopping for the holidays, a birthday, or just because, this guide highlights thoughtful gifts that help female hockey players train smarter, recover better, and build confidence on and off the ice. From physical performance boosters to mental game tools, these presents help athletes show up strong and resilient at every level.
The Empowered Athlete by Danielle McDonough
Written by former Division I and professional hockey player and mental performance coach Danielle McDonough, this book teaches athletes how to:
Navigate sports pressure with confidence
Build self-worth beyond wins and losses
Manage nerves and stress in competition
Develop mental resilience that carries into life
It’s a thoughtful present that reinforces that hockey success starts as much in the mind as it does on the ice.
The Hockey Emergency Kit
Put together a mini “toolkit” filled with the little things she never realizes she needs, until she really needs them. These game-day essentials can be lifesavers in the locker room or on the road:
Phillips head screwdriver
Laces
Extra tape
Scissors
Body spray and deodorant wipes
Blade re-edger
Stick wax
Shower shoes
Bonus points if you pack it all in a cute toiletry bag.

Golf Balls (Trust Me)
When I played u12 on the Colonials in New Jersey, my coach (and former Olympian) Shelley Looney gave me and each of my teammates a hand painted golf ball for Christmas - each had our last name and numbers on them. She told us that golf balls were the best for practicing stickhandling, and that, by the end of the season, the paint should be so worn off that you can no longer see what she did.
I cherished it so much that I begged my parents to buy me a set of golf balls, so I didn't have to ruin the one Shelley gave me (even though she told us to). I still have my golf ball in my hockey bag today, 15 years later.
So, last season when I coached a u16 girls team, I hand painted 20 golf balls and handed them out to each of my players.
The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) Takeover Tour is coming to cities across the U.S. and Canada, offering a unique and sporting experience outside the league’s regular market cities. The 2025-26 Tour includes 16 neutral-site games in cities like Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Halifax, Washington, D.C., and more.

Cornhole but make it hockey. I'm obsessed with mine.

If you’re looking for a gift that goes far beyond gear, The Champion Method is a powerful investment in a hockey player’s long-term development.
