At Girls & Women's Hockey Academy, we're committed to providing athletes with the tools they need to succeed both on and off the ice. That means surrounding our players with experienced professionals who understand the unique demands of female hockey. That's why we're excited to welcome Courtney Marino, RDN, CNSC, to our team as our Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
Courtney brings a rare combination of clinical nutrition expertise and firsthand hockey experience, allowing her to connect with athletes in ways that go far beyond a typical nutrition program. She understands the physical and mental demands of the game because she's lived them herself.

Clinical Expertise That Helps Athletes Perform at Their Best
Throughout her career, Courtney has worked with patients facing some of the most complex nutritional challenges in healthcare. She currently serves as an Inpatient/Outpatient Organ Transplant Dietitian at Intermountain Health, where she develops individualized nutrition plans for patients recovering from transplant surgery.
Prior to her current role, Courtney was an Inpatient Clinical Dietitian for Intermountain Health, where she helped launch the organization's remote inpatient dietitian program, providing medical nutrition therapy across more than 13 hospitals. She also worked as a Clinical Dietitian at Inspira Medical Center, providing individualized nutrition care, counseling patients, and collaborating with physicians and healthcare professionals to improve patient outcomes.
While her clinical experience is rooted in healthcare, the principles she applies every day directly translate to athletic performance. Courtney specializes in understanding how the body responds to physical stress, injury, recovery, and increased metabolic demands. She uses evidence-based nutrition strategies to help athletes fuel properly, recover efficiently, stay hydrated, and perform at their highest level.
Her passion is making sports nutrition approachable. Rather than overwhelming athletes with complicated nutrition science, Courtney helps them build simple, sustainable habits that improve performance, speed recovery, and support long-term health.
A Lifetime in Hockey
Courtney's guidance is backed by years of firsthand experience in the sport she now helps fuel.

She played collegiate hockey at the University of Delaware, serving as a two-time assistant captain for the ACHA Division II Women's Hockey team. During her playing career, she competed in two ACHA National Championships and has also attended four USA Hockey National Championships, giving her valuable experience performing in high-level competitive environments.
Off the ice, Courtney has spent more than a decade as a hockey skating and skills instructor, helping players develop both their technical abilities and confidence. She also served as head coach of the Morristown Beard Girls JV Hockey Team, giving her a unique perspective on athlete development from both a player's and a coach's point of view.
Her involvement in the hockey world extends to the professional level as well. Courtney was a member of the New York Rangers Ice Crew from 2023 through 2025 and currently serves with the Utah Mammoth organization. Working alongside NHL organizations has given her insight into the preparation, professionalism, and high-performance culture that define the sport's highest level.
"Helping athletes navigate nutrition for enhanced performance, recovery, and long term health.”
Making Nutrition Simple and Practical
Nutrition can often feel overwhelming. Between social media trends, conflicting advice, and busy schedules, many athletes struggle to know what they should actually be eating.
Courtney's approach is simple: take the science of sports nutrition and make it practical for athletes and families.
Whether she's helping a young player fuel for a weekend tournament, teaching proper recovery after hard practices, or guiding older athletes through performance nutrition, her goal is always the same: to give athletes the knowledge and confidence to make choices that support their goals.
She believes that proper nutrition isn't about perfection. It's about building sustainable habits that improve performance, speed recovery, reduce injury risk, and help athletes feel their best every time they step on the ice.
Strengthening the GWHA Mission
At GWHA, we believe developing great hockey players means developing healthy, confident athletes. Nutrition plays a critical role in that process, and Courtney's experience makes her an incredible resource for our community.
Her background as both a competitive hockey player and registered dietitian allows her to relate to athletes while providing evidence-based guidance they can trust. She understands the challenges players face because she's experienced them herself.
We're excited for Courtney to work with our athletes through educational workshops, team programming, and individual guidance, helping players of all ages build habits that support long-term health, performance, and success.
Welcome to the Team, Courtney!
We're proud to welcome Courtney Marino to the Girls & Women's Hockey Academy team. Her passion for hockey, commitment to athlete development, and expertise in sports nutrition make her an outstanding addition to our team.
Together, we'll continue giving female hockey players the resources they need for enhanced performance, recovery, and long term health.
